Alpaca

Art.-Nr.: 13

The base wine of this cuvée is the old friend, great lady “Silvaner”, also formerly called Östereicher (Austrian). A rather neutral tasting white wine, which is one of the ancient, most traditional grape varieties in the Palatinate. It always ripens very late in the year and therefore brings a special aroma into the barrel. Slow ripening but fine! A little Sauvignon Blanc was added to the cuvée for the youthful fruit. Two that love each other. Rounded off with a mild acidity and noticeable sweetness. For sweeties 😉

Drinking suggestions

A great entry-level wine even for occasional wine drinkers. The mild acidity and noticeable sweetness can be enjoyed together with a sweet, or even fruity-sweet, dessert. But certainly best with good friends, on a sunny summer evening on the terrace. The name Alpaca is obvious in our winery, because we run an alpaca breeding. Alpacas always spread a relaxing, calm atmosphere with us. This white wine appreciation is meant to do the same. Cheers!

The vine

The Silvaner is an autochthonous (native) white wine variety, which originally comes from Austria. In the Palatinate, it is still cultivated to 3%. Due to its relative neutrality, the Silvaner is very well suited as an indicator of the soil. It brings, as one of the most distinctive varieties, the terroir of vineyard into the bottle. The Sauvignon Blanc is the pondon to the Silvaner, youthful, full bouquet and much much fruit of gooseberry and star fruit.
