Dornfelder

Art.-Nr.: 11

The color is dark red going into purple. The taste of Dornfelder also convinces many lovers of southern red wines. Its bouquet is reminiscent of sour cherry, blackberry and black currant. A mild acidity and balanced tannins let it glide smoothly over the tongue. The traditional maceration of 8 days gives this wine structure and harmonic tannins on the finish…. Cheers!

Food recommendation

A roast wild boar with cranberries on a pear, accompanied by hearty potato dumplings and a Palatinate Dornfelder, which accompanies this meal with its aromas of cherry and currant. Excuse me, these thoughts make me immediately hungry too. The pasta and the red wine go together like a pot and its lid. Also with dark meat, like roast beef. It is also an excellent companion to game terrines and pâtés. Also highly recommended with mild to slightly savory cheeses.

The vine

Dornfelder is considered a new breed among red wines. A cross between Helfensteiner and Heroldrebe. Since 1980 registered in the list of varieties, with us already since 1976 as a trial in cultivation. It is considered to be the most valuable and successful red wine variety among the new varieties. The wine is sought after for its fragrant fruit, mild acidity, rich body and dark color.
