Dornfelder Selection

Art.-Nr.: 33

The color is dark red going into violet. Its bouquet has hints of sour cherry, blackberry and black currant. The traditional maceration of 10 days gives this wine structure and harmonic tannins in the finish. In addition to the normal storage time, it gets several months in older wooden barrels. Our goal, a fruity but not too light Dornfelder full of character. Cheers!

Drinking recommendation

A roast wild boar with cranberries on a pear, accompanied by hearty potato dumplings and a Palatinate Dornfelder, which accompanies this meal with its aromas of cherry and currant. Excuse me, these thoughts make me immediately hungry too. The pasta and the red wine go together like a pot and its lid

The vine

Dornfelder is considered a new breed among red wines. It is a cross between Helfensteiner and Heroldrebe. It has been registered in the list of varieties since 1980, and has been cultivated here as a trial since 1976. It is considered the most valuable and successful red wine variety among the new varieties. It is sought after for its fragrant fruit, mild acidity, richness of body and dark color.
